Interview

  • How do you go that ‘extra mile' in your life?
I guess it depends what I’m doing, but I always try to excel or put in extra effort when I do things in life. When interacting with someone I’ll always be present; you’ll never see me look at my phone while you’re talking, and I use conversation to really listen and try to understand a person. When we’re in bed I’m very attentive to your needs. If it’s aggression you like, I go the extra mile by arching my back and pushing back harder when it hurts and never letting a gag reflex affect what I’m doing. Whether it’s just us or a group, you’ll never hear me complain or slow down the fun. If you’re feeling submissive I can start so slow you’ll think you were born with me inside you, and I’ll pick up the intensity with constant attention to your comfort. Mild to wild; you’ll see that I’m always about that ‘extra mile’.
  • What should others absolutely know about you?
I would never intentionally do something to hurt another person. I was bullied and picked on pretty hard when I was younger, so I go out of my way to make sure I don’t cause anyone else to feel inadequate or insecure. I try to compliment and lift people up whenever possible.
  • Tell us what you consider to be your greatest life experience.
This is going to sound generic and is also probably infringing upon a Hallmark card, but my best moment was when I realized how in control I am of my own life, and that I have the ability to enjoy each moment and to make each moment enjoyable for others. Since that realization I can’t say I’ve always been my best self. Some days I get home from work and spend three hours watching trash TV; however, I do try to use free time to do good when I can. I always try to entertain others and be a source of positivity. If you don’t like that answer, then my best experiences are finishing my first marathon and graduating from medical school.
  • What are your greatest personal traits?
Empathizing with and seeing beauty in everyone I meet, giving hugs, untying knots, listening to what a person is really saying beyond the words I’m hearing, holding my breath underwater, building igloos, playing instruments, giving advice, giving head, cheering people up, trivia games, cuddling (equal-opportunity spooner), listening to and respecting opinions that differ from my own, climbing trees, climbing anything, folding a fitted sheet, magic card tricks, meeting moms... Those are the first things that come to mind. Oh! Also puzzles.
  • What is your ‘niche’?
I don’t know if I have one, or I’m just bad at introspection. I’ve been told I make other people feel comfortable without trying, which means a lot to me. I am generally always trying to make people laugh. I like knowing that making someone smile or feel good can potentially change the mood and course of his or her day.
  • What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?
I wish I could just upload my CV here. In no particular order, I like music (piano, percussion, euphonium, singing), running, cooking, eating (everything and anything except olives - I want to like them and try them once a year to see if my tastes have changed, but I’m still not there yet), talking to my mom on the phone, reading the news, spending time with my amazing group of friends, keeping a few plants alive (thankfully they’re resilient), watching Jeopardy, and trying all the pizza in Chicago.
  • What’s your lifestyle? What makes you who you are?
I’m a life-long learner, and my thirst for knowledge and new experiences makes me who I am. I’ll try anything once, probably twice, and there’s no subject matter that I don’t find interesting.
  • How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or you are more of a homebody?
As often as my time and budget allow. If it were humanly possible to spend a month in every city and village in the world meeting the people, tasting the food, and learning the culture and history there, I absolutely would.
  • What makes you stand out from the crowd?
My voice. It’s low, and it carries. My whisper is like a dull roar, and I’m still working on this.
  • If you have to pick one thing that everyone else should absolutely know about you, what would it be?
    Don’t take me too seriously.
  • What do you enjoy most about yourself?
I’m super optimistic and genuinely always in a good mood. Nothing seems to bother me the way it bothers others. Also I’m thankful for my sense of humor. In a world full of uncertainty, I can comfortably guarantee at least three things when we meet:
    -I’ll make you laugh.
    -You’ll learn something new.
    -You’ll be glad me met.
  • If you and I were on the beach having some wine and great food, what would you tell me about yourself.
That I think the wind just blew sand in my food, and next time we should eat before we have romantic conversations on the beach.
  • Name 5 things that you can’t live without.
    Family, friends, music, science, laughter.

    If we’re talking physical things:
Pizza, toothbrush, sriracha, hoodies, my bed.
